It’s pretty much common sense that when you attend a wedding or a wedding reception, that you take the bride and groom a wedding gift. On my wedding, I got a lot of great gifts that I had registered for at the local Target, but I also got a ton of money! To be completely honest, and I’ll bet most brides and grooms would agree, we would have been MUCH happier had we only got money and then were able to go out and buy the things we actually wanted/needed.
I recently just learned about this thing called a matrimony or wedding registery account that can be set up at a bank or credit union. This kind of registry gives your family and friends a quick, easy, and secure way to give you cash gifts and the beautiful thing about it is that it goes right into the account and you can withdrawal it whenever you like.
I talked to a few local banks this week and I guess that this is how it works. When you set up a wedding registry at your financial institution, they provide you little cards that you can add to your wedding invitations. Kind of like the ones that you make up telling your friends and family where you are registered for gifts.
When everyone receives your invitation, they can do one of two things. They can visit your bank and make a deposit by providing you and your future spouses name, or they can go online and make a deposit by doing the same thing. After they make a deposit, they will be giving a receipt or they will be able to print a receipt that can be placed in a card that they give to you at your wedding.
I think this is actually a really awesome idea and I with they would have had something like this when I got married.
